Meet The Author
Joseph Peter Krupski
Joseph had this vision of becoming a writer one day. He had this life experience in the summer of ’62, which lent itself to becoming a story with some additional fictional adaptation. In January of 2023, he began to put this true story into words, deciding to use fiction to enhance the story and advance it into a saga. His goal was to show the reader; the different shades of love and the possible consequences life can bring in the decisions one makes. In this love story, uncontrollable circumstances can complicate real life situations and change the outcome. Hence the trilogy (Bailie Beach Saga) was born with the release of Bailie Beach, which is now followed by the novels, Love on the Rebound and Sometimes Alone, completing the Trilogy.

My Book
This story is inspired by a true story that took place on eastern Long Island in the summer of 1962. The main character, Tommy, returns home from college for the summer, seeking to find true love. In a short period of time, he meets three girls within four days and attempts to date all three in one weekend. He develops a separate relationship with two of the girls and tries to manage dating both secretly. His two relationships become challenged by a past relationship that haunts him. His summer job pressures him, and his inability to choose between the two girls adds complications. He does find true love, only to have it threatened by obsession, betrayal, and revenge. The story portrays that true love has no boundaries and can overcome adversity through forgiveness. The story illustrates the role friendship can play in one’s life in obtaining resolution. It validates the good and bad consequences that can result from the decisions one makes in life that can impact others.
In this love story, uncontrollable circumstances can complicate real life situations and change the outcome. Hence the trilogy (Bailie Beach Saga) was born with the release of Bailie Beach, to be followed by the novels, Love on the Rebound and Sometimes Alone.
“From its descriptive opening to its deliberately unresolved conclusion, Bailie Beach captures the allure and raw emotional tensions of a group of friends and acquaintances navigating the awkward passage from adolescence into young adulthood. The narrative steadily gains momentum as the characters weave in and out of complex romantic entanglements, with choices carrying consequences that cannot be easily undone. Confronted by runaway desires and the fallout of impulsive decisions, the characters quickly learn that acting in the moment does not always lead to an outcome they hoped for. Bailie Beach is a captivating romantic novel and a great read.”

“Let me start with what drew me into the setting. I didn't grow up on Long Island. I've never been to Mattituck or Riverhead or any of the towns that populate these pages. But by the time I was fifty pages in, I felt like I had. The novel is very detailed. The music, the cars, the drive-in theaters, the diners, it's all so lovingly rendered that I found myself Googling "1961 Chevy Bel Air" just to see what Tommy's car actually looked like. That's immersion. Reading Bailie Beach is like looking at an old photograph of someone you used to know. I found myself caring about these people more than I expected. Tommy frustrated me. I wanted to grab him by the shoulders and tell him to stop being such an idiot. But I also understood him, the rush of being young and desired, the inability to say no to something that feels good in the moment. He's just a kid making mistakes that adults pay for later. The women in the book Joan, Mary, and Debbie, each left a mark on me in different ways. I won't say more than that, because I want you to discover them for yourself. But I will say that one of them, in particular, has lodged herself in my heart in a way I didn't expect. She's the kind of character you wish you could warn. The kind you wish you could protect. The sense of place is extraordinary. I've never been to Bailie Beach, but I can picture it clearly. By the end, it felt like I had been there myself, sitting on that blanket, watching the sky change colors.”
